| R-2000

Since 1982, the R-2000 standard has led the way in residential energy efficiency. R-2000 homes are built to be 50% more energy efficient than the building code.

R-2000 often focuses on environmental features that reduce greenhouse gases, promote water conservation and make better use of our natural resources.

The technical requirements of the R-2000 Standard include measures for the efficient use of energy, improved indoor air quality and better environmental responsibility in the construction and operation of a house.

The requirements are intended to give the builder flexibility in the selection of construction techniques, building products, mechanical equipment, lighting and appliances. The R-2000 Standard is periodically updated to ensure that R-2000 houses represent the leading edge of cost-effective housing technology.
